Silvers Travel Program

Silvers is CYF travel softball for 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16/18U players ready for a higher level of commitment, tournament competition, offseason growth, and clear team expectations.

Higher commitment

Silvers players are expected to show up ready, communicate conflicts, attend team activities when possible, and take pride in representing their community with class beyond their home fields.

Development still comes first

Travel softball should stretch players, but coaches should prepare them before asking them to perform. Success is a process, not only a weekend result.

Team over self

Players are asked to embrace their role, be loyal teammates, own their effort and attitude, and put team goals above personal goals.

How the Silvers process works

The tryout application gathers softball background, positions, availability, player goals, age group (10U, 12U, 14U, and 16/18U), and family understanding of the travel commitment. That helps CYF place players thoughtfully and communicate clearly before any payment is due.

Parents should expect more travel, more scheduling detail, and more responsibility around GameChanger communication, sideline behavior, volunteer help, and signed expectations.

2026-2027 cost range

  • 10U: $400-$500
  • 12U: $500-$600
  • 14U: $500-$600
  • 16/18U: $500-$600

This range depends on sponsorship support and does not include player equipment or uniforms.

No Silvers payment is collected during the tryout application. If a player is selected, CYF will send a separate payment link after team details are known.

What families should understand before tryouts

Silvers is still CYF, but the commitment level is different from Rec.

Tryout process

The questionnaire helps CYF understand whether the player fits 10U, 12U, 14U, or the combined 16/18U group, plus positions, softball background, availability, goals, and family readiness before placement decisions are made.

Commitment

Families should expect stronger attendance expectations, more travel, tournament weekends, communication discipline, volunteer help, and age-group practice expectations.

2026-2027 Outlook

Families can review what to expect for 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16/18U, including tournament counts and the updated older-team practice model.

Costs

2026-2027 Silvers cost range: 10U $400-$500; 12U, 14U, and 16/18U $500-$600. This range depends on sponsorship support and does not include player equipment or uniforms. No payment is collected during tryout registration. If a player is selected, CYF will send a separate payment link after team details are known.

Communication

Silvers families should be ready for team tools such as GameChanger, clear RSVP habits, and direct communication with coaches.

New older-team practice model

For 2026-2027, 14U and 16/18U are moving toward one required extended team practice on a weekend day plus 1-2 individualized weekday workouts matched to each player's position(s) and needs.

This helps families from surrounding communities, supports girls playing other sports, and keeps development accountable without requiring every older player to travel to Chelan multiple weeknights.

Review before tryouts

The Silvers outlook explains the expected tournament load and practice rhythm separately for 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16/18U.
