FAQ

Practical answers for families, sponsors, volunteers, and anyone trying to understand where to start.

Registration

Which program should my player choose?

Ages 3-4 usually fit Little Tykes, ages 5-6 usually fit Rising Rookies, Chelan and Manson girls in 8U, 10U, and 13U ready for local team play usually fit CYF Rec, and girls in 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16/18U ready for a higher travel commitment can look at Silvers.

Which registration paths are available right now?

The Silvers player-interest form remains available, but the posted July tryouts have passed; families should confirm the next evaluation step with CYF. Little Tykes, Rising Rookies, and CYF Rec registration is closed, and their notification lists are open. CYF expects those registration windows in January 2027.

Can siblings or friends be placed together?

Families can share sibling or teammate requests when the form asks for them. CYF considers those requests, but team balance, coach availability, age group, and roster size come first.

Fees and payments

When is payment collected?

Little Tykes, Rising Rookies, and Rec use Square checkout when their registration forms are active. Sponsors can pay securely online with Square or choose to mail a check after submitting the sponsor form. The Silvers player-interest form does not collect payment up front. 2026-2027 Silvers cost range: 10U $400-$500; 12U, 14U, and 16/18U $500-$600. This range depends on sponsorship support and does not include player equipment or uniforms.

What do fees help cover?

Fees and sponsorship support help cover equipment, jerseys, field supplies, tournament costs where applicable, and the practical costs that keep the season organized.

What if cost or payment timing is a concern?

Please contact the CYF board directly. CYF handles those conversations privately and works with families on a plan so every girl in North Central Washington has an opportunity to play.

Season communication

When will schedules be posted?

Exact practice and game details usually come after registration closes, coaches are confirmed, and teams or groups are built. The schedule page is the best place to check the latest timing notes.

How many tournaments should Silvers families expect?

For 2026-2027 planning, 10U should expect 1 fall tournament and 4-5 spring/summer tournaments; 12U should expect 2 fall and 5-6 spring/summer; 14U should expect 2 fall and 5-6 spring/summer; and 16/18U should expect 1-2 fall tournaments and 4-5 spring/summer.

What is changing for 14U and 16/18U practices?

14U and 16/18U are moving to one required extended weekend team practice plus 1-2 weekday individual workouts assigned by player and position. Players and parents will sign off weekly that assigned individual work was completed, with structured weekday workout times offered when coach feedback is available.

How will families hear from coaches?

Families should watch email first. Teams may also use GameChanger or another team communication path once rosters and coaches are set.

Who should parents contact with questions?

Start with the coach or board member closest to the question. Safety concerns should be raised immediately. Non-safety frustrations should wait 24 hours, then go directly to the right person.

Sponsors and volunteers

How do sponsors get recognized?

The sponsor chooses whether CYF may give a public thank-you. When permission is given, CYF follows the sponsor’s preferred display name, logo permission, and recognition details.

What documentation can a sponsor request?

Any sponsor can request a receipt or sponsorship acknowledgment letter on the form and provide the recipient, email, phone, mailing address, and preferred delivery method. CYF will provide the appropriate documentation; the website does not make tax-deductibility claims.

What volunteer help matters most?

Coaching, assistant coaching, team parent help, scorekeeping, GameChanger support, field prep, equipment, uniforms, sponsor outreach, and event help all make a real difference.
